Community Updates

Sea Scout hall redevelopment as a community boating facility

* Latest update - August 2025

November 2024

An expressions of interest (EOI) for the Scout Hall site has been lodged with TfNSW (Transport NSW) with a plan to build dinghy storage, a ramp and a pontoon. We were expecting a decision by early December.  There are a number of parties that have also lodged expressions of interest to take over the Scout Hall lease, each with their own plans to redevelop the site. Details of their proposals are not available to us at this stage.

December 2024

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent survey supporting the proposal to lease the old Sea Scout Hall. We’re pleased to report that we’ve submitted an application and believe we have a solid chance of success. There is a concept drawing of the single-story design we submitted for communal use of 25 dinghies on the home page.

Over 260 people took part in the survey, offering valuable insights from across North Harbour's (Jilling Cove's) users and beyond. Your feedback was instrumental.

February 2025

NHBC has submitted a EOI to TfNSW to redevelop the scout hall as a community facility to support the 107 private moorings. As part of the process, NHBC conducted a short presentation with the TfNSW and their property consultants. NHBC was told that TfNSW is now requiring the Scouts to demolish the building before announcing the successful applicant. It has been suggested that the successful applicant be given the opportunity to work in conjunction with scouts to demolish and rebuild under the same DA as this would reduce costs and save time. We are waiting for their response.

June 2025

TfNSW has awarded the lease of the Sea Scouts Hall to North Harbour Sailing Club (NHSC) which is located next door to the current Sea Scouts Hall. North Harbour Boating Community congratulates NHSC on their successful application.

The North Harbour Boating Community will continue to investigate any opportunities or possibilities to provide better services to private mooring owners in Jilling Cove / North Harbour.

August 2025
As North Harbour Sailing Club (NHSC) has been awarded the lease by TfNSW, we will actively seek other opportunities to assist the local boating community in North Harbour and update this site when opportunities arise.

Here’s how you can help:
